650 701 swap questions

hi guys I know there's threads out there and I've done some research but I'm still a little unclear on some aspects of this swap. I have a 650 sn and am thinking about doing a swap from a waverunner. I've read it's a direct swap from one to the other, but do the electronics from the Runner go in with the engine? I plan on rebuilding it maybe boring it out and porting it too, how does that affect reliability and are there any other things I should do before dropping it in?

Yes, you can use 650 electronics and flywheel in a 701 with no modifications. The 6M6 rev limiter is set a little lower than a 61x but that is no big deal. I ran 650 electronics with a 701 in my old square nose for a couple seasons with no issues.

Pretty much everything in 650/701 electronics is swappable. The only exception being that a 62t stator must be used with a 62t flywheel. You cannot mix and match flywheels and stators between a 6m6/61x and 62t
 
The sky is the limit. The main things I would recommend are rebuilding your carb and pressure testing it and your motor before re-installing.
I forgot about the carb... Should I get a new one Maybe a little bigger than stock? I know I want to get a high compression head/ gurdled head. I still have research to do as this is going to be a learning process for me

6M6 and 61x flywheels are interchangeable. However a 62T flywheel has to be used with 62T electronics.
 
Just got a 61x for 300 yesterday! Gonna take it apart pretty soon here. Anyone know of any good shops to balance the crankshaft, and port the cylinders in Michigan? Thinking about over bearing it too but idk
