650 sx nozzle on a 750 sxi pro?

Hello all! :)

Ive been told you can fit a 650 sx nozzle on a 750 sxi pro pump unit.. the trouble is no one in the threads ive found on this subject have said if you need the exit and steering nozzle? or does the 650 steering nozzle just bolt onto the 750 pump unit? well the 750 (exit) nozzle? sorry if this sounds confusing..

So will i need both parts or just the 650 steering nozzle?

Thanks!

yes it will bolt on, in any configuration really, the parts are interchangable on both since the both are 140mm pumps. I had a extended length 650 ocean pro nozzle from a X2 that I put on my SXi. but you will want to keep in mind that the exit nozzle ( the one that bolts to the pump itself ) is sized accordingly to the specs of the ski from the factory ( such as impeller pitch etc ) most guys will open up or increase the size of that nozzle for more pop.. not usually go smaller. So if the 650 one you speak of is any smaller than the 750 one than you may want to skip the idea. now if all you have is a 650 exit nozzle and you want to get the ski riding then go for it , its not going to hurt anything. just bear in mind you may want to find the proper size especially if you upgrade other parts later.

-The steering nozzle itself does not affect performance too much, their primary function is to just steer the hull and direct the water flow. size increases really cant be felt or affect performance. Now if the steering nozzle is longer than say a stock one. it can affect the way the hull steers and make it quicker and more responsive at the controls.
Cheers !

Thanks for your detailed reply!

What it is ive been told the 650 nozzle is wider then the sxi pro nozzle.. so in theory fitting the 650 nozzle will give me a bit more bottom end punch? but like ive said no one said which part it is.. so im guessing going by your explination its the exit nozzle that is bigger?

yes, the 650 nozzle is bigger than a 750. I had a bored 750 nozzle and switched to a 650 and noticed a slight gain in low end. The 650 nozzle also has veins in the reduction portion, dont know if that helps anything but I like mine. It bolts right on but the location of the steering is slightly further back so you have to adjust your cable a little to make up for it. I also had to notch out the steering nozzle near the bilge siphon to allow full turning to the right, this may be due to my steering setup giving it a little extra throw.

Also 750 SX model (92-95) pumps used an 80MM Reduction nozzle, coupled with a stubby pump cone does indeed give a little extra low end throw.
