650sx overheating?

I have an overheating issue with my 1987 650sx. It has a 38mm carb, 3 degree reed spacer, mariner water box and west cost pipe for engine mods and the intake grate and prop and ride plate too..My problem is my ski starts to blow steam out of exhaust pisser out of the side of the ski. I can ride it for about 5 minutes until it starts overheating. It pisses out water fine then it slowly starts blowing steam untill it steams like a tea kettle.. I took the water lines off and blew through them and nothing was clogged which is what I thought since it does piss out water when the engine is cold. Has anyone ha a problem like this? I have had the ski for quite some time and have never had this problem untill this year and have had the mods on for a few years too.. Any help would be great before I rip the whole thing apart.

Yes, had that problem a lot. You have a leaking head gasket ! Those Kawis use a thin ss gasket with some kind of rubberized coating on each side. When they leak, combustion pressure pushes against the cooling water coming from the pump area- so little or no water is available for cyl. cooling. Do not ride it like that anymore!

I had a headgasket leak when a head bolt came loose and it just lost a lot of power and was hard to restart in water but both my out lines were fine. Sounds like a clog floating around in the water lines or something, I'm curious what you find though

Yea the ski def runs funny.. I pulled a few water lines off when I was out in the water and blew through them to see if anything was blatantly clogged and was not.. I was thinking something was clogged myself but also wondered why it would run fine and piss water for about 5 minutes before it overheated and started to lose power because one would think if its clogged it wouldn't piss at all. I did do a little wrenchin on it last night and found the rubber hose from the exhaust to the waterbox was almost pinched shut which what looks like it was caused by some extreme heat. Very strange problem and I'm actually going to put the ski back to stock and see if the problem still occurs and keep ya posted on what the verdict is
