650/X-2 650sx ticking noise?

I just put in a new mikuni 44 mm carb and now there is a light ticking noise when I ride. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be from?

From my experience with 2 strokes if its making a pinging noise then your getting to much fuel i would rejet your carb

I will look on to that does anyone else have any other ideas?
