find the right impeller to fit the engine mods and exit nozzle diameter. spacing the impeller to far or to close to the stator vein section will also make a big difference in hook up or cavitation.
 
Only changes I made to mine after the 701 swap is a worx 201 grate and an impeller. Made a big difference until my grate came loose at the front bolts and ripped the rear inserts out.

Mill the head and port the engine, get an aftermarket exhaust, preferably a bpipe. Dual cool the pump and engine and get a flow control valve. Make sure you have the right prop and bore out the nozzle. Everything combined really wakes up the 701 and makes it a fun engine.
