Can't just go by horsepower. Numbers shown by yamaha are peak horsepower.

The answer will be different depending on your application. Racing, recreational, flatwater, surf.

Where are you looking to get more power?

Low end power would be the best. I guess the actual HP gain doesn't matter. What I'm curious about is can you feel the difference? I do a little flat water and just did surf for the first time and am planning on more surf riding.

FWIW I had a stock one and could not sell it fast enough. I would like to try one with decked cylinders, porting, and high compression/custom domes though. Maybe someday...

Yes! I am ready! Not exactly sure when I'll get out but very soon....

A dual 38 set up 760 sounds like it would be killer!

I sold my 760 to a friend so I still ride is sometimes...B piped stock pistons stock porting stock 44's.....a TDR waterbox with added water and dual FC valves. Sounds evil....and fast.....but not the snap I like...

Matt....you have to check out Matts 760 set up. Its very impressive. Snappy as hell. The guy took it in to orbit. Really nice handling RN too.

My freestyle ported 64x 760 has more power than other non ported 701s I have ridden. Not off the bottom per say but it SCREAMS all the way through the powerband. A ported 760 would be a lot better for a boat chasing/racing /rec setup especially in a superjet, but I'd probably lean towards a properly setup and ported 701 for freestyle, and especially in a aftermarket hull made for competition flat water freestyle.

The right person can make either one rip your arms off so unless the 760 ski is pretty much trash already, why gut it and ruin a good ski? If you really want to try it out and not miss any riding time, swap the 760 over and run it for a bit. Meanwhile, send your 701 to Jetmaniac and let his magic Blue elf work his magic on it. The 61X will have much snappier throttle response while the 62T is more of a linear power. Predictability is really nice in the surf but snappier is way funner on flat water.

I really like my TLR ported 760 cylinder but there's more going on with my engine than just porting a stock cylinder. Mine is not decked, nor running any shims or thicker base gaskets or any custom cut head or domes. Port mapping suggests that it has been resleeved at some point since the port height matches a 61X. So, the reason mine hits so good off the bottom is because it is essentially a 61X bored out to 760, ported for racing and sitting on race ported cases. I bought it off Waterfreak over 5 years ago and it hasn't skipped a beat yet. Best $500 I ever spent in this sport. :)

P.S. There's some secret exhaust tricks going on as well so once again, power is the sum of all your parts and your ability to match and tune them to work together correctly.

My brother has had the same cylinder for years now and it is on its final bore of 83mm. It has significantly more power than at the lower bores, with all the same porting and other parts. It feels a whole lot more powerful than it used to. No replacement for displacement:cool:

Make take on it is about the same as everybody else...depends on how u are going to set it up... I say slap a 5mm crank in it...have it ported. Case porting too... but I'm crazy...lol
