800 kawi or yamaha motor in a 550

Has anyone ever thrown a 800 kawi or yamaha motor in a 550 hull? Thinking about building a 550 like this

and throwing an 800 in it. if its not realistic then im not gonna bother.

I can't say about the 550 conversion but if you do the just b you should look into 750 motors. The 800s are very expensive a, were talking $400 vs $1500. If you can afford such a thing, a 550 hull wouldn't be where I'd put my money.

A 750ss uses the same length driveshaft as a 650sx but has the longer splines, so it would accommodate a pump conversion well if you just found a 750ss to do the job.

You'd probably have to go with an aftermarket 650 pipe.

Ive never owned a 550, only rode one once, so I'm sorry I can't answer any specific questions about the hull.

There's a guy on pwc putting an 1100 in his hull, I'm sure if he can do that you should be able to run an 800..

Look up RWilliamtaylors posts about putting the 701 in a 550. My profile pic is a Yami 61X in a 550 hull.

Tons of threads about this on pwctoday.
Kawi 650,750,800 all go in with adapter plate, larger coupler and 650 sx pipe

Yamaha 701 and 760 go in with rhass kit
I've done both and they are a blast to ride

cool thanks guys. i think i might just consider doing a 750 engine. this would be my first time building a ski from scratch. thanks for the advice

If you do a Kawi 750/800 or 701 it's a must that you glass in a 140 pump from a 650 or a 750. All that extra power is like spinning your tires with a tiny 550 pump

Agree... waste of time if you don't convert over to a 140 or 144 pump.
