92 SN Flush line open?

So I have a 92 650 superjet I just picked up and rode twice so far without issue but just realized the end for the flush hose is just a quick release? Is it supposed too be plugged while riding? Or does it not need it I haven't had all that much water in the hull

the ones ive had werent open unless you clipped in the other end. i think the clipping in is what opens the little valve thingy. sorry to use technical terminology.

you could ride it without the hood on and see if its spraying out of there...
