Reading thoroughly through this helps a lot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_Superjet

"Body - Roundnose top deck, new Superjet bottom deck The new bottom hull has incorporated side sponsons (similar to adding "blowsion tubbies") into the hull and the rear of the hull is slightly narrower with deeper strakes. The Pump, intake grate and ride plate are all setback 50mm compared to the past Superjets. The pole on the 2008 Superjet is also about 2 inches shorter than previous round nose superjets."

So yes, there are changes. The best bang for your buck if you are only looking at SuperJets is the 96-07 hulls.

I was looking at a superjet cuz l rode a 650square nose back in the day and it was 25-30% percent better handling than a 550, till l looked at the prices of a superjet and the powerfactor pipe or even a type 9. I ride in the ozean and it wriecks havoc on everything.
It gets rougher than rough its more if you can even hang on at times.
