97 Roundnose "Resto Mod"

I'm not really doing a build thread but I just wanted to post the progress on my current build. I picked up this hull a couple months ago and intended to just install footholds and go but the graphics were not in very good shape and the hull had a couple issues that needed to be fixed. So I bit the bullet and started a full on resto mod restoration on it. My plan is complete paint top and bottom, stock reproduction 97 graphics and footholds. I will be replacing all the purple trim with black trim. It's pretty much going to look like a new ski. Anyway, below are pics of the progress.

This is what it looked like when I bought it:

I used a single stage urethane and it came out very nice. Very close to the look of gel coat which is what I was trying for.

The top deck had a couple spots that were caved in so I wanted to fix those areas. I cut the holes for the footholds and defoamed the problem areas. After a little heat was applied I used a jack and blocks of wood to push out the hull. Worked like a charm.

Top deck prep done and in primer. So many hours of sanding to get it right. Glad to finally get it to this point.

Got the pole, bracket, spring and steering cable in. Working on steering, throttle cable and s/s switch today. Monday I will be starting on fixing the warped tray.

Thanks fellas, I know my wife is ready to get done with this project.

Cut the tray yesterday and the foam was dry as a bone. I hope to get refoamed and glassed up today.
