Surfriding '97 Superjet build

Picked up a retired 1997 race hull, and a kick azz fiberglass Xmetal hood to start things off. I am going to put some footholds in the hull, fix a couple problem areas and reinforce a bit then pull off all the "racing" stickers. Everything else will be the same as my REV with my home ported 760/61x Frankenstein motor with a limited B pipe.

Working 6 days a week kills my motivation to work on this but having today off and no family around I got to put a few hours of work into it. Started modifying the nose a bit, ground out the ribs to get ready for reinforcement and started modifying the tray.

Can't wait to come down to Daytona and take it for a spin! I picked up a backup x2 that I will eventually put a limited 701 setup in. That will be your ski to use when you come home to visit so you won't have to worry about a ski here! See you in a couple of weeks!

Nice project! reminds me of my wife's rn when we found it, an old 97 race ski. That's the same hood she wants.

Finally got the nose mod finished up, one side of the tray glassed up and one side of the hull reinforced. Went with two layers of 12oz biax for reinforcement with a custom visual layer. Need to get more epoxy after Christmas and do the other side, then spray bomb it and turf. So slooowww....

Should be ready for Daytona, I ran out of Epoxy so I won't make any progress between now and when I get back from MN for the holidays so I will have to bust on it the week after.

Having a perpetual riding season and being one block off the beach = neglected ski. I did only the small things necessary to keep this junker running since the freeride, now that its coming back around I figured it would be a good time to do work.
I have been running no intake grate, may throw a stocker on just to keep the hull inserts from getting to corroded? My rideplate came off in a couple pieces and my "paintjob" sucks.
So far my plans are to go -4" in the rear, re-turf, add a billet head and a one way. I have already cut the rear and de-turfed, if I run into extra time between now and January I may add some things to my list. Would love to paint it and add some tubbies but those are far down the list.

Been pretty bad about keeping up to date on this but I swapped in an '08+ prop, a billet head, cut the bottom deck back 4", added a 1" drain valve with versiplug, painted and re-turfed. Also did some much needed clean up and tidying up of bilge lines, wiring and other, finally did the finishing touches that I should have done before last years freeride. My wife busted out a pretty clean turf job, just need to put my exhaust in and a couple small finishing touches and it's ready to ride.

What foot holds are you running and do you have any pics of the nose mod when it was under the knife?

No footholds, just wide open, I have been tossing around the idea of holds or straps but can't bring myself to give up any realestate. Not sure if I have pictures of the nose, I will look, its kind of sloppy but has been driven into the bottom a bunch of times and only lost paint.

I was hoping for more seafoam green than baby blue but that is what you get for $30. Just picked up a Bell drop with sick Jimbo Phillips graphics.
