so i have been asking for advise on what to do with my 750 sxi pro. thought i had made up my mind to keep it and start doing some mods. then it blew up.

All my life i have been listening to moms yell "make sure you turn the blower on" when going to start a inboard. Never thought of it with a jet ski. filled it up with gas, hit the starter and boom motor cover blew off, gas compartment cover blew off, hinges blew apart, handle pole bracket blew a part, my hair burnt, my ears are ringing.

Do you guys open the covers before you start, or do you have a blower/ vent system? has anyone else had a similar experience?

wow... never had that problem. wonder what others issues you were having for that to happen? must have back fired through the carb.

glad you didnt get hurt though...

It was scary. I'm looking for a new sxr. So i wonder what my 2001 750 sxi pro is worth with a missing gas cap cover plate, a broken aluminum handle bar mounting bracket, and missing hinge brackets on the motor cover, also some stress cracks in fiberglass around hinges and pole mount. no other damage runs fine, but because it has nothing to hold the cover on i really cant ride.

Ho god... I do JetSki for 19 years and I never heard a story like that. You should have a gas leak somewhere and you fired it up. Next time start it with the hood off...

its done. traded it in. got $500; needed $2000 for hardware, fiberglass work, and engine issues-gasgets leaking, over reving. i now own a 2011 sxr red and white. very pumped took thursday and friday off from work. ill have to change my xh20 name now. glass cutter?
