A silly question perhaps.. 62t cylinder line

Simple enough, what is this line on both sides of the bottom outside of this 62t cylinder? I've never seen it on 61x cylinders. About to cut down the intake side for porting and its mighty close.

My speculation is that it was to provide a. Visual identifier to distinguish the 62t 701 from the 64x 760. They use identical castings on the cylinder and the 64x motors even have 62t casting marks.

But I have no idea that's pure speculation.

I can't think of any functional reason for it.

my guess is its for whatever machine is used to hold the sleeve.
