Able billet cylinder question

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Found a guy who has an old Able billet cylinder and head for a yamaha. Says 73mm on the tag so sounds like a 5mm stroker correct? He said it came off a motor with stock crank? Is there a stroker plate needed to run this? He said it was for acceleration not top speed. Doesn't have the pistons. Needs a hone or possibly bore. What's it worth? Is it a possible worthy freeride (flat water) cylinder? How hard is it to find domes for these?

BTW, I also have a small stock of new gaskets and domes for these - your domes appear to be the non o-ringed style that require a head gasket. Some used an o-ring dome which are generally interchangeable with ADA domes.

Curious to know the overall height of the cylinder and pics of the pistons. Some used Kawi style flat-tops.

When I see that 93/94 stamp for some reason I think of my FX1. Just imagine that motor in an FX1 back in 94. I imagine that would be at the tip top of best in class.

Owner said cylinder height was 119mm. He said that's near same as a 61x he measured @ 119.3, so has it be decked possibly? Or does the stroker plate compensate?

Could have been setup for stock stroke with Yamaha domed pistons, or +4mm or +5mm stroker with kawi pistons and no spacer plate or Yamaha pistons, using a stroker plate, or ???? who knows. Are there any markings on the top of the domes? Usually there is a cc size engraved or stamped in. they almost look like flat-tops (kawi style) in your pic, but hard to tell.

My second cylinder is a similar height, has a spacer plate, was using kawi pistons and has a 7 port configuration like a "Lamey" cylinder...
There seems to be many mysteries to these old billet relics...

Just remember it takes alot of case work to match the cylinder. I have #29 made 2 months after yours. I use the long rod 5mm crank and have a really thick spacer. The spacer is for the longer rod not for the +5 stroke. It is alot easier to match the cylinder this way. Can you post any pics of the inside port layout? My exhaust port is a huge Bat Wing. Low duration but very wide because of the bridge. I have seen some without the bridge. Couldn't tell you which ones were better though.

here is one we put together last yr, most are short rod 6 mil strokers with no plate, yours is a older ver, before they went to oringed ada domes. The older ones were bridge ported. never seen flat top domes with that big squish band in a able before. They were way ahead of their time in 94, even today its a fantastic budget surf motor, too small cc for flat water.

you have to port the cases alot to get the most of the flow from the transfers with this setup,I know lpw would make epoxy ramps in the cylinder to avoid having the cases cut and ported this far back and match the transfer shapes in the cylinder. that prolly takes much less time to do.

exh port shape of the later models are much more like what you see in most freestyle motors today, this one is a 195.

^Sweet setup!

Without knowing anything, what do you think the cylinder and head together is worth that I posted above? Remember it looks like it may possibly need a bore

I could use a head and base gasket if you still have some RMBC. thanks

also i willing to sell this setup as a short block if someone wants it. 62t case and 5mill crank with this same cylinder on top #23

Could you pm me with a price please? Are the pistons included? Does the cylinder need a bore or hone?
