ADA 701 O-Rings

FYI the ADA web site lists the 701 dome base o-rings (between dome & cylinder) as a #43 o-ring. I checked dimensions last night & this looks correct. Didn't check a 760.

The McMaster-Carr part # for Viton #43 o-rings is 9464K431. :sneaky:

Buna works fine no need for Viton unless you just like to spend a couple extra pennies. FYI

Buna is ok for everything BUT the combustion chamber ring. Use Viton there.

Buna +230 degrees Viton +400 how hot does your motor get.

I also like the 70 Shore A durometer on Buna for the head better than the 75 on Viton on head seals.

Just my 2 cents from a mechanical engineering view point. All is good.

I bought all viton at a local shop it was around $25 and got enough for 6 kits don't know if the riva is the same as the ADA but here is the riva sizes

riva head oring sizes 701/760
Shell seal:1/16" Bulk Buna-N
From the top down:
Spark Plug:118 Buna
2nd :031 Buna
3rd :043 Buna
Compression chamber : 153 viton

You know what, I do not need 100 o-rings. I need to buy parts from McMaster anyway, and the Viton will be the same price as a kit for 1 (well, 23+ cost of cord stock) and I will get 50 of each and 10 of 043. Too negligible. I don't have time to sell the extras... so unless your ordering them from a supply store in town... who cares if it's Buna or Viton?

The actual combustion ring is the 043. The 024 is the dome to shell seal and the 020 is the ring around the plug area. All I know for sure is that ADA specs Viton for the combustion ring and Buna everywhere else. I can build 10 full kits plus a million extra small buna rings for the cost of a couple of ADA kits. The actual seal is metal to metal anyway so do whatever you want. The combustion ring is only there to seal out water intrusion.:dunno:

I guess I am just puzzled because it asks for how many feet I want of it. So am I ordering how ever much I want and I just need at least 58 inches and then I just cut the "cord stock" to that size?
