Yes, Very important, Only use 62T stator and 62T flywheel and must use 'R' plugs AND 5K resistor sparkplug caps (NGK/like most seadoo's have). Coils don't seem to matter...
P.S. Make sure you have a new or very good battery also,

MSD Inhancers don't seem to mind much... only thing I see with them is very inconsistent with what they do with the retard rate...some good, some not with a d***.

Well, I have both. MSD in the blaster, and the Advent in the SJ.

Are the 5K resistor sparkplug caps stock, the coils and caps are the stockers on my '05 SJ.

No, Stock Yamaha caps are not resistor caps, unless somebody changed them, NGK comes in red and black, and have something like tb05m spelled on them and that does mean 5000 ohm resistance...

I use BR8ES-S (solid tip) in most of my motors...this of course is w/ADA heads that use long reach plugs. Because of the compression and squish ratio's I build into my head designs, I need to run 8's , 7's are too hot range, and way too hot for a blaster, if the blaster is set-up right, should be able to use a '9 in blasters. A lot safer if you run the hell out of it!

Hey Chucky I'm running BR8ES in my ski right now. Whats the deal with the -S(Solid Tip) and what kind of gap should I be running with that plug?

Thanks:biggthumpup:

Dan, -S plugs are not the aluminum removable end where the plug cap connects. These are the stock sparkplugs that come in most oem seadoos. You won't get contamination in the plugcap with these like the aluminum ones, much healthier for the spark quailty.

Chuck,

I know Advent don't actually specify the use of the the 5k resistor caps, but could this be a reason for the hard start problem so many people have had?

No the hard start was due to mostly his earlier boxes not retarding enough for starting, Greg has them fixed now, only time I have some trouble is when I have really high compression. (over 210) If you don't use resistor caps with them they hiccup and quit randomly.

Thanks Chucky. What kind of gap would you run on a stock 701 with ADA Head(185psi) and bpipe?
