Advent question

Does anyone know if a Advent ignition on a superjet will draw power from the battery when its not running?

I had a box that did for my sxr. I sent it back. I am on my 3rd box.

It shouldn't. When I hook up my battery cable I get a good spark like it is drawing a lot of power but my battery doesn't go dead from sitting. How many amps is yours drawing?

my neg. terminal sparks too, not sure what the draw is my multi tester has a dead battery so I won't know till towmorow.

20mA being drawn from the battery when not running.

0.9A at idle (1800RPM)

Current draw gradually increases until it peaks out at around 1.75A at 7000RPM as it flattens out to the rev limiter setting.

The initial spark you get when connecting the battery is the capacitor drawing its charge. It should fill itself up and hold it. I had an Advent that killed batteries if left connected. They replaced it. The new one does not drain the battery, but now my battery needs replacing :damnit:
