Hi guys i bought a 97 superjet with 62t motor. I sent the motor to the shop to get bored to 89 or 86mm i believe also to get ported and 61x top installed, flywheel lightened. I have a factory b pipe already im trying to get most bottom end to play around in the water don't really care about the speed . I am currently deciding what handle bars i need . im looking for advice what else do you guys think i should do
Thanks in advance

The ski is old and the previous owner probably wont tell you how long he let it sit full of water after he sank it. So, take the whole engine apart and clean, inspect, and reassemble. Use new OEM crank seals. Replace the crank if has corrosion damage. The cylinder can be bored a little without resleeving, going larger than 2mm over should get an oversized sleeve. Any amount the exhaust port is raised will hurt throttle response but add power. Getting the pump load just right is critical for best response and acceleration, top speed wont vary much. I like straight bars.

Where did he mention the ski sank?

I would get an ADA Girdled head. If you dont want to change the steering plate out get a set of UMI / RIVA 0 Degree bars. Or change to strait bar setup with turnplate.

Over pivot steering system with riser bars is what I would do. One of the best handling mods around in my opinion. I have and like the blowsion ovp but I think the RRP and thrust kits are good also. Many times that isn’t compatible with stock chin pad. I know RSKI makes a pad but you may have to get custom to make the current chin pad work.

Buying an old ski is a very poor risk unless you are able to take it apart and inspect everything first. You may get lucky and find everything still like new. Otherwise it will cost at least $2K and some time to get one back in shape. This is one instant where you can buy all the parts individually and come out with a much better ski than you would by overpaying for a junker.
