I just got off the phone with Jackie and she gave me an update. She also asked me to thank everyone for their calls and concern as she can't respond personally at this time.
This morning on the way to work Lance was traveling down Mount Pleasant when a vehicle in front of him made a right hand turn onto Fentress Rd. At the same time a woman attempted to turn left onto Mount Pleasant from Fentress and pulled directly in front of Lance.
He received a severe break of the pelvis causing internal bleeding. The bleeding was stopped this morning during surgery so his first hurdle has been passed. The next is surgery tomorrow to repair his pelvis. It has been broken in half with a 2" separation in the front and 1" in the back. They plan to plate the front and screw together the back. While in surgery they will also be evaluating an injury to his ankle. It is not clear as to what extend his ankle has been injured. During surgery they will also be evalutately the extend of his interal injuries, while things appear to be OK they will be looking to confirm that as the case. Outwardly he is in good shape with only a minor laceration to the top of his hand. Pain management has been the order of the day and Lance is now resting.
Visitors are asked to wait until Saturday before planning any visits. I know we'd all like to go down there as soon as possible but he'll be undergoing surgery around 3 tomorrow and he'll like be having a lot of tests done before hand. After surgery he likely won't be in any condition for visitors.
Doctors would like him to be sitting by Saturday and he's expected to walk with the aid of a walker and/or crutches within 7 to 10 days. Beyond that, he will not be able to put any weight on his left leg for 8 weeks. He is also facing quite a bit of PT.
I'll will keep everyone posted on any other info I receive.
His injuries are serious, he could use everyone's prayers.
Another note, he's pretty pissed he won't make this Saturday's DP. If anything will piss him off, you know that will.
