300/440/550 Any Ideas?

i did a search and it wasn't really coming up with anything direct so i'm sorry if i skipped right over something.


this was an email from a buddy of mine who is curious to figure this out...gotta get it back out on the water by the 19 so please help us

Model: 1990 JS550SX

Jet ski was running fine with new battery. After riding it all day and numerous starts, due to my friend riding a jet ski for his first time, the battery became weaker and weaker, eventually dying. The battery is a good battery. Also, when starting, you have to pump the finger throttle numerous times just to get it to fire up

The carb probably isn't tuned correctly. The old round body mikiuni carbs are terrible. These things absolutely eat batteries, so I wouldn't worry about that if he tried to start it a lot. Is the ski all stock? Do you know where the screw settings are currently at?

The ski is all stock and not sure where they are currently at but will find out after work

Just set the carb to stock settings. Here are the stock settings:
15/16 of a turn on the top screw
1 and 1/8 on the middle,
1 and 5/16 on the bottom
