Any real evidence race gas makes more power then AV gas

Just looking for answers before ordering a couple of 55 gallon drums of race gas. Trying to keep the brap alive with the new domes i ordered . thanks in advance blaine

av gas and race gas are 2 different fuels if you want the most out of your motor run race gas.the octane rating is different for race gas than it is with av gas

So if it doesnt make power can i run av gas at 200 or 210 psi. just dont want to pay full price for race gas if there an alternitive.Do most air strips sell av gas to public?

there are plenty who do run AV Gas.............. I would feel safer with Race Gas.
but I am partial to 92/93 octane

Av gas is for stock airplanes. I wonder what tricked out racing airplanes use ?? Race Av gas ? At the worl finals there is no av gas for sale. only race gas. The airplane racing have seen on tv are running piston engines and are at only a few hundered feet of elevation. I would think they are running VP.

there is a reason for that......... it's not legal to run :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

gas does not make power, it is the octane levels that keeps your motor from detonating due to improper octane levels.

Are you saying that all things being equal, assuming you had the correct octane, that no fuel would make more power than another? I was under the impression that certain fuels had additives and chemicals(like oxygen for example) that inherently made more power when tuned appropriately. Who knows? Where are the experts when we need them?

having too much octane can actually hurt you, all things being equal with 2 pump gas 93 octane boats, 1 boat running 93 and 1 boat running 100, the boat running the 93 will perform better because it is more efficient and combusting the fuel.

it has to do with the octane the motor is built for, i know for a fact that certain pro-riders and a few sport riders are buring a chemical fuel called HTG because of the octane that it has, it is pricey but that is what is needed in order to make the boats perform at there peak

"hot rod's pump gas drags kickass 8 and 9 second cars running on pump gas, now thats whats up"

yup, VP or P66 91 or 93 octane if i remember correct. Cuz its consistant
pump fuel is NOT always the same from station to station, state to state.

Im sure malone and other racers are running race fuel 112 or 115?,
but im just a guy in the high elevation fighting lack of O2

when ya'll say race gas you should specify what octane level your running, cause VP fuels makes a popular race gas called C16...116 octane:bigeyes:

I get my leaded 110 for 5.25 a gallon at the pump:biggthumpup: VP is a rip off. Sunoco is where its at!

With the AV and race gas question, you have the ability make more power off race gas because of higher octane levels (110 leaded) because of the ability to give your motor more compression. Aviation fuel is 100 octane and its unleaded which limits your compression to around 200psi id say.

I've benn running 93 for 6 months now on a 6mm lamey with with 205 psi and .050 squish and MST tl with absolutly no problem. Of course, I only bleep the throtle and never run top speed. The lower octane fule will burn much hotter therefore burning the fuel more efficiently. Of course the downside, too hot will cause detonation
