Super Jet Anyone perform Wamiltons "Wammer Mod" on a Factory B pipe themselves???

Hello All,

I am purchasing a Limited Factory B pipe for my 97 Superjet, and I came across a "wammer Mod" that Wamiltons performs as an option on some of thier Factory B pipes, and sell them for an extra $150 bucks or so.

Here is the link to the video that shows the extra modifications they do to the pipe:

It looks like the main thing they do is round off all the edges within the manifold with a router, add the extra cooling line, and make sure it lines up exactly right with the gaskets...

It looks very simple. I was wondering if anyone has ever done these modifications themselves, and if it would be worth it for me to do it to my new pipe/manifold before installing it? I have all the proper equipment to do it properly, but i dont know how critical it is or how exact the rounded courners must be... If it is a very precise art, then i wont mess with it, but from that video, it honestly just looks like they are smoothing out the rough edges within the manifold, and making sure it lines up exactly right, which I know I can perform easily.

Any input would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

The only mod i did was the first one. I tapped the exhaust manifold so I could set up dual cooling. Personally the B-pipe was enough of a mod for me not even worry about porting it even more. You'll notice a difference in your ski. Plus its like what $800 new... I would hate to F that thing up.

So the smoothing out of the rough surfaces and rounding of the corners is worth it and deffinately does make a noticible improvement in the pipe's performance??

look at it this way... a few small mods that seem pointless end up being a huge gain in the end.... always gasket match!!!!!!!!! art at jetworks helped me change 2 small things and it made a huge diference in running and performance

yeah i hear ya, im gonna do this over the winter, only thing im doing right now is putting the straight fitting on top, not sure what difference it will d, prob nothing, already got mine tapped for dual cooling did that before i installed it, u can pick up the fittings at oreileys or where ever.

I just received my B pipe. I sanded all the cast marks down inside the manifold and then took a wire brush attachment on my Dremel and polished it to a smooth finish. I'm taking my chamber and manifold to the powdercoater and he's going to apply a ceramic coating. He said it'll only cost $45., sweet deal I think. I'll post pics when she's done.

yep..I just did one a couple of weeks ago...modified for an XS1000

ported the headpipe and mani all to 52mm.....then matched the gasket....changed all the cooling fittings to 1/2"

2 alum carbide bits about 30 bucks for both (still usable) and a couple hours time.........
