aqua high torque starters

What do u all think of these starters ? seems like different companies make them and call them aqua torque like if it is a brand.... there is "MES", parts unlimited sell them and Yamaha dealers sell them...how do they hold up ?

Aftermarket starters are just OK, don't last more than 2 seasons, but are cheap under $225 almost anywhere. OEM Yamaha are the best, But so is the price now! Like a retail of $420 from a dealer! Even with a discount I still don't get much of a break on the price...

I forgot!
i paid 512.00 after tax with a slight discount for my oem starter. (CAD) i could have bought 5 of the cheap e-bay staters for that much. i haven't had any luck with the cheap starters. sucks when your ready to go for a ride and you hit the start button and get some horrible sound. look for a used oem on ebay. my buddies 1995 oem is still cranking strong.

just replaced my starter yesterday. it was a cheapo just like the ones you are talking about and lasted me a total of maybe 6 months. oem is the way to go for sure. they're cheaper but in the long run its gonna cost you a lot more to go cheap.

anyone know how much the oem brush kit is ? maybe that is why mine is cranking slow...my battery is holding at 12.9 volt/100% charge.I bought a new aqua torque starter for $99 off ebay...they are made in Japan and a friend is going on a third season with one....they have a Dbl o-ring nose cone...hoping since it is Japan made it might last ?
