AR Build for my son

I built this AR from scratch and gave it to my son for his 18th birthday. I think it came out nice and will be a great rifle for him for a long time. It's your typical AR except for a Wylde 1:8 spiral fluted barrel and a Troy 11" free floating rail. The rest is Magpul FDE. All that's left is sights but I'm still undecided.

Nice builds fellas. I love building these rifles and there is so much more to learn. I picked up this AR today for $400 from a college kid that needed beer money. Spikes Punisher lower, factory LWRC upper with 7" free float rail, BCG, charging handle and 1:8 16" mid length barrel. The only thing I'm going to change is a longer rail.

Very cool! I just finished an 80% 1911 frame for my dad's bday and giving it to him with the bag of parts so he can put it together.

- Smith & Wesson M&P Lower
- SS Barrel 7.62 X 39
- Nickel BCG (bolt carrier group) w/ 7.62 bolt and enhanced firing pin
* I had to enhance the Mil-Spec M4 firing pin because 5.56/.223 requires only .028-.032 thousandths pin protrusion and 7.62X39 requires .050-.060 thousandths. Chucked it up in a lathe and took .020 off of the shoulder face of the firing pin.
- Knights of Armament quad rail (carbine length)
- Fab Defense GL-MAG adjustable stock w/ Built-In Mag Carrier

I built a few other lowers for a .300 AAC Blackout build, POF (patriot ordinance factory) short barrel upper build, and a 22lr conversion build.
I'm not a big fan of the pistol tube short barrels so I had to file for the Tax stamp to be legal.

They are a good thing to have. We used the old 7Ds back in the day but the 14s are way better.
