Attaching HIN Plate

I’m about to paint my Superjet and I removed my HIN by drilling out the rivets. Just curious what is the best method for re-attachment after paint? It seems like the HIN plate was riveted to only the top deck of the hull before it was assembled at the factory.

One side of mine was broken next to the rivet. I just sanded the back of it and attached it with a new rivet and 5200, it’s held up great. I’d mask that recessed area, paint, then install with 5200 and rivets. 5200 isn’t really necessary, but with 25 year old plastic it might be a good preventative.
