Other Avoid 'new' eBay starters

I figured that for $55 shipped I can't go wrong. WRONG! This POS burned up/wore out in about 20 ride days. The exterior housing is a prefect as day one, no rust or corrosion. Took off the rear cover and it smells burned and everything is covered in gray ash. It started making a high pitched squealing and not turning the motor much at all. Live & learn :thumbsdown:

OEM only.
Anything else is just not worth the hassle.

I have one as a backup. I put it on early last year when I went on vacation, picked up a nice used OEM from NJFL and swapped it out shortly after.

i had the same problem with ebay starters. i e mailed the guy and he gave me a new one did the same thing. emailed him again made him take it back. had my oem rebuilt never had a problem again.

I like to keep an extra one laying around. I picked up a used OEM off here for 60.

after beating on my starter ill only go oem. this thig is rusted, chipped and looks like it came from the bottom of the ocean but keeps on turning.

That's the way my blaster one was, the guy even told me he smoked it a few times and it worked great til I took it off.
