B pipe head pipe injection screw stripped

Like the title says I stripped the bottom water injection screw trying to open it today to install. Can anybody recommend what to do or how to fix? Do I have to drill it out and retap it for a bigger screw. If it isn’t one things it’s another

Thank you

I would try to weld the nut on the adjuster, use some heat and try to back it out. Definitely do not want to drill if you don't have to. Those screws are not easy to drill through.

That is a great idea! In have always used a torch and needle nosed vice grips. It sacrifices the screw but usually gets them out. I had one break on me out of the ~9 I have extracted.

Another thing to do that I didn't mention is to tap the frozen screw with hammer right after it's welded before it completely cools. This will break loose the corrosion in the threads. Then slowly work the screw tightening and loosening until you get it out. Done properly, no damage will be done to the threads. Might take a few times welding to get it out but this is by far the most effective way to remove a frozen screw or bolt.
