Super Jet B-Pipe is touching my tank? That can't be right...

So no matter what I do with my roundnose, the b-pipe, mod chamber, is touching my gas tank and there's absolutely no clearance to move it at all... it's going to be rough to even get a piece of turf inbetween the tank, and the chamber.

Is this normal? I've tried searching the forum (search feature sucks) and can't seem to find anything other than people saying... put some turf in there, and ride.

Have you tried to put some more pad under the waterbox? Sometimes that helps. My limited chamber is a tight fit, I put some turf on the tank and inside the hull for peace of mind along with some extra padding under the wb.

I'm not sure how much room it might buy you, but you could spin the hold downs 180* or maybe remove the rubber bumpers and put turf in its place? Sounds sketchy but i'm just guessing.
I agree with spikey, if your WB is touching the tank, that could solve all your issues.

That's the thing, the waterbox isn't touching the tank, the battery box mounts in place just fine where it's supposed to be, and the tank sits where it should on the rubber piece that is in the stock location... I've never moved it. But, the pipe is still touching the tank and there's NO room between them. I had to hammer a dowel in between the tank and pipe to kind of bend the tank inwards enough to put a piece of turf in there...

At this point, I don't have time to fix it before Daytona so the turf is going to have to do the trick I guess...

I carefully put the mouth of my chamber in a padded vise, grabbed the stinger end and manually bent the chamber a teeny bit. If I recall correctly I struck a couple of blows with a soft faced dead blow hammer as well. Didn't take too much to get that extra 3/4 of an inch clearance.

My chamber was actually starting to melt the outside of the tank! Not only was it too close, but it had a little pinhole leak right in that inside bend. I had a local muffler shop look it over and the guy welded 4 or 5 cracks and did a really great job for @$40.

If you move the hose from the stinger to the waterbox slightly away from the waterbox you will gain a little more clearance...then superglue a piece of old thick exhaust tube to the tank as a safety bumper were the chamber might touch the tank some...works for me.

I just stuck a piece of turf in there. It was very tight, had to pry it apart. I used a piece of the old OEM mat. I think I will stick a piece of the engine compartment rubber matting in there since I have a ton of it.

I guess I'm happy to see that I'm not alone in having clearance issues, but damn, kind of sucks that the pipe doesn't fit better...

Now I need to find some spare rubber pieces somewhere.

I glued a piece of turf to my tank and and I run my stinger dry and only the bottom screw is open 1/2 turn so my pipe is as hot as it can get without melting the coupler and I have never melted anything.

With a good heat gun or gentle propane torch you can soften up your tank right where your pipe rubs and push it in. Indent it enough for clearance. push too hard and it makes it kink and stuff but I would recommend doin that, I did on my SN with B-pipe for extra comfort room and still have a chunk of rubber between the pipe and tank. Just make sure your carefull those tanks can be a nice bomb:firedevil:

Un-strap the tank and make sure it's alway to the right side of the hull. It may move right than factory install.

The idea to put turf under the w/box raises the the pipe to a wider part of the hull. Raising the w/box may melt thru the fill hose if the stringer runs dry. However, detecting a dry stringer is posible with the pisser. Detecting a dry chamber....is impossible....welp, it may run better.

I have quarter inch between the pipe/tank. I have turf between the pipe/tank and pipe/hull. And I put turf between the water-box/tank and water-box/fill-hose. It hard to fuel now because the fill-hose is kinked. And I think all that turf is extra floatation.
