B Pipe vs. Type 9

so i am getting a superjet here pretty soon and i am big into freestyle and i was wondering what was better for flatwater, the b pipe or the type 9. also does anyone know what the hp increase either of them adds and what type of jetting i should run??? thanks

this is a very good question.. as i see it and i am friends with engine builders
as i understand talking with them the type nine dry pipe would be the one to use. it would work like all the rave of the eme/ dry pipe on the large cc power motors. but with the same effects on the smaller motors.
i have been keeping my eye out for one. if you have one i would be interested in onei have a ported b pipe with a stinger on it now:usa2:

Type 9 dry pipes for power wise will make good power. But the lord mounts and such i dont think will handle the beatings of freestyle.

Type 9 hands down for power...

B-pipe for reliability...

I won't go into why as I've posted it here many times before, but there is a reason the new eme pipe is basically a type 9.

A bone stock 'b' pipe is a good mod. There are some modificaitons that can be done to it (boring out the manifold and headpipe, and changing the stinger diameter) that can make it work better with your engine set-up.

i will agree with you here

Not to get off subject , but why couldnt someone make a big ass chamber kinda shaped like the Blaster ltd chamber(only bigger) that utilizes the B pipe head pipe and manifold and goes into the front of the hull and raps around like the Power factor pipe does? I know the B head pipe has that extra turn but oh well.. Of course it wouldn't be a efficient as the Power factor pipe, but do you think its possible?

If it could make a substantial gain, it would a cheap alternative..
Just thinking...

Gary Lamb used to make SJ B pipes dry by water jacketing a skin around the existing pipe, then running the b pipe dry. It worked great back in the day. As close as you could get to a pure dry pipe without the mounting headaches, etc. Teddy Dixon raced with this set up on his limited SJ on tour one year and pulled holeshots left and right. Old Steve Lawler would get sooooo pissed that he was on a factory yamaha limited and get holeshotted by this skinny kid from Virginia, lol.

Jett, this might be something you could have done by a good machinist/welder.

Perhaps buy a second b-pipe chamber, chop it, and use it as the second layer?

Obviously adding some ribs a 'touch' of material to bring the cuts back together.

Not a bad idea actually....

Hmm I think they do just fine with freestyle. I dont do many tricks but do 90% of my riding in the surf and they are holding up good.

Type 9 all the way. My headpipe and chamber are out being coated as we speak.

Those are awesome Idea's with the water jacketed B pipe chamber. I'd love to pics of that!

I know that when the water gets cooler around here(like now), I can close all screws except the top only cracked open the smallest bit and it sure runs snappier and cleaner. In the dead of summer here though I have to keep that baby cool and lose some brap snap. I do run the Jetworks valve.

If any one wants a type 9 I have one in my garage with water injection and hardware to bolt to a girdled head and has a relatively new silicone couple hose. I would trade for a B pipe .PM me if interested
