B Pipe

I went to insall my B pipe tonight and it won't fit. I was wondering if that are any tricks on intalling it and should it be rubbing on the hull? My is hitting on the side of the hull and hinch the reason why it won't go in. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

yeah its a tight fit. gets easier every time. I put some turf between the tank and the pipe on mine, not sure if I put it on the hull too. keep trying you'll get it.

Set the chamber into place, sometimes shifting the tank around a little helps that slide in to position. Install the manifold. Put the coupler onto the headpipe along with both clamps. Bolt the headpipe down. Now slide the chamber back onto the coupler already mounted to the headpipe, tighten clamps and connect it to the waterbox.

I had to the do the following to get my limited bpipe to fit:

1. Partially grind down the ribs that the pipe rubs against.
2. Partially grind down the edge of the cases near the motor mount that the pipe sits directly above.
3. Glue 3 square pieces of turf together and put underneath the water box to lift the stinger end of the pipe up about an inch which in turns raises the whole pipe up and ensures proper clearance between the pipe and the cases.

**Also for some reason there are different FP Installation directions for different bpipes. My directions said to put the exhaust manifold on first, then put the chamber in, and then put the headpipe in. My buddy was installing his bpipe at the same time I was and his said to put the exhaust manifold on first, then put the headpipe on, and then chamber in.

We found it MUCH easier to do it my way and put the chamber in before the headpipe. You can do it either way though.

**Also realize you have to remove the gas tank and battery box. There is no way around it so don't even try.

**Last but not least be sure to mount the chamber and heapipe together on the coupler the night before to loosen up the coupler and then when installing it be sure to use plenty of WINDEX. WINDEX makes it so much easier to put in.

what he said..i struggled the first time i put mine back in....ive gotta do it again today so hopefully it goes alittle easier this time

I'd installed the manifold and headpipe prior to putting the chamber in. I found I had to remove the gas tank to get it in...

I like the chamber, manifold, headpipe suggestion. That's how I'd do it next time.

As far as the pipe rubbing - you can twist the chamber around and gain clearance. You'll also want to make sure it doesn't ride on the motor mount.

That's the same problem I had so I had to grind down the cases and put turf under the waterbox to raise the stinger end of the chamber which subsequently raised the chamber up and away from the motor mount/cases.

I was able to move my waterbox around (back and rotate it) and rotate the chamber enough to make clearance for mine - though I haven't checked since installing it...

Thanks for all the tips, and the start of this thrread. I just installed mine and holy crap was that not fun. :banghead: I hope I never have to do that again. Don't know what I would have done with out the tricks. Just getting the chamber and head pipe coupler to fit was a &*%#$. I have checked my clearances and now for the cooling lines and tuning. Thanks again guys.

I just spent WAYYYYYYYY to long for what I really thought was going to be an easy job.

So most of you guys put the head pipe in last when changing a silicone coupler?

changing a coupler?

I pop the tnak loose, unhook chamber, loosen head pipe bolts a little for play, fit coupler on to chamber, and wiggle back in....nothign ever leaves the boat

I'm still wondering about this! This is ridiculous!

Even if you put the head pipe in last won't it be pulling really bad when you try to tighten the 3 bolts down?

You can't even move those %$%^#%@!#$%#! hose clamps around when they are super loose! They bind up on everything!

These things are brutal!
