B1 battery to small? Possible or not?

Can a battery that is way to small cause a running issue? I grabbed one off the shelf and the box looked like it was the correct size, but when I got it home the battery is tiny(big piece of foam in the box made it look taller than it really is). Long story short, the blaster ran good last year but it went wide open on the trailer melting a Pro-Tec head o-ring,I replaced the O-ring and it is having an issue with running still,so I don't know if its a battery problem or another problem has developed. It runs good sometimes and sometimes its way down on power and sounds like an electrical problem.Compression is still good, I don't have an erratic or hanging idle like an air leak, almost sounds electrical. Anyone have a running issue from a battery being small or dying?

a bad battery wont cause your engine to run away. more than likely you have an air leak or carburetion issue.
I should have been more clear. The run away isn't a concern,it isn't running right intermittently, it seems to run good for about 20 minutes then loses about 1/2 its power. I thought it was only when it was hot at first but after riding it for another 20 minutes after it was running poor,it came back to life and was good for 1/2 hour.
