Blaster B1 paint engine bay?

I have ski completely torn down, many upgrades this year. I'm wanting to paint engine bay. I've already painted outside of ski and I have experience using automotive paint. Can anyone give advice on how to prep surface and what color to avoid? I used epoxy primer on exterior and used 320 grit to make sure primer adhered. DuPont makes 222S adhesion promoter, so I was wondering if anyone has taken a different route with good results?

If I were to paint a bay, if only do it after sandblasting the whole inside first. IMO, that's the only way you will ensure that the entire surface is scored enough to accept paint/ primer. Then I'd be sure to use a highly gas/oil resistant paint. Possibly even a colored gel coat and just leave the finish dull

Yea, painting an engine bay on a jet ski, WTF. Why men are obsessed with our toys, from muscle cars to snowmobiles. Jet skis and more ! I thought this might be more common than I realize. I've cleaned it with gas then soap and water and finish with wax and grease remover. I'm hand prepping with 80 grit since I don't have access to sand blasting. I've used an epoxy primer before with good success getting it to stick. I have some left over two part automotive paint and DuPont clear to shoot over. Thinking about base color white with yamaha blue splatter droplets slung over top then clear coat. Should look d___ sexy for awhile lol.

just use bilge coat easy to apply and looks great, I used white on my ski because I love the clean look when it is clean but don't spill grease or it'll be a mess, a lot of people go with black or gray

I'm getting some good ideas, thanks. I'm only familiar with automotive paints but I might look into gel coat. Still have time before lakes warm up.

Standard gel-coat doesnt like smc. I would use a 2 part epoxy. That is what i did with my footrocket, turned out great.

I just painted the outside of my ski with imrone single stage black. Turned out great, you spray it on like clear coat because the base coat and clear coat are one product. So all you have to do is two wet coats and your done. It hardens like rock once fully cured "dried". They make it in white and I plan on doing the same thing to my blaster engine bay. And all you would have to do is get some degreaser and spray down the engine bay really good and pressure wash it out. Then use wax and grease remover to wipe everything down and scuff it with a either a red scuff pad if you want to primer or seal the inside which I highly recommend which will give it a 400 grit scratch or they make a gray scuff pad that makes 800 grit scratch that's good for base coat. That's what I do at work when I paint or fiberglass parts. Hope this helps and makes sense. This is how clear mine turned out

I used 2 part epoxy followed up with base/clear. I wanted white, besides I had a lot left over from another job. Is Imrone a ppg or DuPont product? That pic looks sick! Nice work.
