B7HS vs B8HV spark plug ?

whats the difference between the 701 SJ's B7HS,

and B8HV?

one of the stealership guys told me that the B8HV's were more "high performance" for more modified engines.

so i picked up 2 plugs and thought i would try them.

is this true or should i not even try to run them because they will mess up my engine?

Thanks!

The B7HS is the stock plug in the early 650/701, I cant remember when Yamaha went to the BR8HS in the stock engines, I think in '96 with the 62T cases.
The B8HV is a fine wire racing plug and is a more efficient plug than the standard BR8HS.
No you will not hurt anything by using this plug, as it is 1 step colder plug by having a 8 heat range # as the seven is 1 step hotter that the #8. It is a better plug for the ignition.
Does it make a big difference with the V plug verses the S plug...most of the time no, but in a salt water use with MSD big spark applications they work better.
We always switch to the V plug on our aftermarket racing magneto ignitions on our vintage RR motorcycles for better revs up top.

v-groove plugs-- burn up more of the fuel that is supplied to the cylinder, even with stock electrical. with an enhancer it's like 85% burn if not better. only way i have been able to acheeve 100% burn is to duel plug the head.

how could you use these plugs. b8hv isnt the threads too short for a yam or kaw head. meaning that the spark plug wont thread all the way through the head.

The 650/701/760 (probably 1100/1200NPV motors too) OEM heads use the short thread plugs, Kawasakis and aftermarket Yam. heads (and PV motors) use the long threads.

No, the ES plug will not smack the piston in a Yamaha motor. (Even though it is too long)
