Back Again// another superjet problem

So the other day I was riding my Superjet 701 at a friends cottage and it was running and starting great. Then after taking a break in the water for about 10-20 minutes it was having trouble starting up. After a few tries it started up but was making a funny, I would maybe describe it as a high pitched electrical noise. I decided to stop it and let it sit for a few more minutes and then after that it would not make another noise.( saying that the motor will not start) Now every time I hit the start button no noise will come from the machine. I am thinking maybe a starter problem since in the past every once in a while when starting it, it will make a spinning noise but then start. I have already ruled out the battery since it was brand new this year and when I hit the bilge switch the bilge comes on with no problems. I am not really that mechanically inclined and just wanted to know what other people thought before sending it to a local shop and spending big money on repairs. Let me know what you think

-Thanks, tayler

Pull the starter and look at the teeth. It may have engaged/partially engaged while riding or not properly disengaged. If a tooth broke the chip could wedge and cause loss of brapp since now your starter is a generator pushing juice back. While it may not make it past a disengaged solenoid (starter button not pressed) it could really create electrical potential (voltage) causing more probs.

Or you have a noisey ass bearing...

Thanks khaos, this is kind of the answer I was anticipating. I guess now it's time for my to try my hand at it or take it to a shop, and spend an arm and a leg for a new starter. Haha. Once again thanks for the reply!!!!!
