Made some nice progress this past weekend in beautiful Torch Lake

Still getting great height but still learning to rotate faster. A couple things I have picked up along the way from experience with attempts and advice from buddies is

1. Commit, commit, commit
2. Stay close to my wake...can still work on this more along with timing
3. Slow down the speed to ride up the wave
4. Look/pull back before leaving the wake (you can really see this in the later clips where rotation improves)
5. Biggest thing i need to work on is pulling the bars to my chest...really see this after watching the video

anyways...here is a video of the progress i have made this year

Yeah you got those last couple. Just have to pull the bars that last little bit. Kinda funny but I kept landing nose down like that and had one that I would have landed but I gave up on it early expecting to hit the nose again. Once I did that I realized it was possible and landed my next attempt, you just need to believe!

Thanks man! Watching your vids were a huge help and with similar setups I knew the machine was capable

the biggest thing you need to work on is hitting your setup wake. if you dont time that right, you aint going to make it. go a lot slower and blip the throttle the whole time. you want the nose up as high as you can get it while still going forward. that makes the biggest wake and timing is easier going slow. make a smaller tighter turn

Thanks man that makes a lot of sense...the last day at torch I was noticing the inconsistency in my wake...one time it would be massive and others it would be tiny (I thought it was the direction of the wind haha)

Great progress man, like Deftons said, you would have had those last couple with a tiny bit more rotation. I was in the exact same boat as you last year, it's gonna feel sooooo good when you land your first one, if the water wasn't so cold I think I would have had a boner! lol

Slow down! If you hit the wake right you don't need to pull. Be sure your pre hop puts the nose in the bottom of the trough of your wave. As soon as it hits the bottom, nail it and hold it until your pump clears the water. Stand in the middle of the ski....don't lean back.

F@#* i wish i had a DVX hull instead of a scorched ass from sitting on the back burner for over a year................ pulling is really a bad habit to get into. its best to let the power and the boat do all the work and make sure your body is in the correct position to go the same direction as the boat. i found that yanking on the second flip, mostly just rips the ski out of your hands. after i stopped yanking, i started landing 2. ariel tricks are like bull riding, when you know the ski is going to rotate what ever direction, you better make sure your body is also going that same direction. if not, the ski goes one way and you go the other, ejected.

I have so much work to do. But really I just need to start trying again I landed upside down so many times and not many people around to tell me how to improve I got frustrated.

Nice vid, helps to see others having to work for it.
I have A LOT less motor than you but people who've flipped Chans have been on my ski and say its obtainable.

Good stuff here.
Very similar to this thread - check it out if you haven't already: http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/flat-water-flip-guys-whats-your-most-frequent-fail.150713/

I finally landed a couple decent flips on my circus after making all of the rookie mistakes.
What finally pulled it together for me was:
-Slowing down and not riding too far from your setup wake.
-Pulling the bars "to your chest" <---- (in quotes because it doesn't really get to your chest, but doing this motion helps pull the nose around!)
-Keep the throttle pinned! - this was mentioned in the other thread and I'm pretty sure I was letting off too early!

Keep practicing! I need to as well...just don't get enough time to ride.

A couple more attempts and you will have it Bobby. Just need to put it all together. Timing and making of the setup and believing you can make it around! You got it!

He didn't tell you he had one I saw where he made the rotation but his feet came off and he went over the nose just before hitting the water. He would of rode that how had he stayed in.

First, a few of those you went before the wake. You kinda jumped over your wake.

Second, don't throw you head so soon. It's not doing anything to help your rotation.

When your ski is going up the wake, look down between your legs, like your trying to look at the water. Then when the ski is almost horizontal with the water throw your head back, pull the bars to your chest, and bend your knees.

Look at these pics first one is me, the rest are Lee, you will see what I mean. Also look on his Facebook and watch his vids and you will see what I'm talking about

wow thank you all that have replied with tips/suggestions!! its awesome to have the support

i am excited to get back on my ski and try these things out and ill hopefully have some follow up with some pics/vids

Nice! You're going big man, you'll have it down in no time! I watched the vid a few times and it looks to me like you're throwing your head back too soon, it looks like you already have your head looking back as you're climbing the wake You should read over post #14 again and try to work on that. If you do like @onlyFX-1 said and then snap your head back you'll have it.
