Freestyle Backie Chan footholds

I'm planning on adding a front foothold to my Chan, and while I'm at it considering moving the regular footholds forward a few inches. It feels super unnatural to me riding in them so far back, and it looks like there may be somewhat of a trend in freestyle hulls to move forward a little. Looking at a phantom or a dvx or an xfs they are not way back.

I am very new to freestyle hulls though, am I way off on this?

Any Chan guys out there with thoughts out suggestions?

Moved mine 2in forward and added a lot of heel wedge. Feels way better to me. Foam was soaked and many voids so I ended up redoing the whole tray. Pole ended up needing to be about 4in shorter. Having your weight centered over the ski helps with rotation in any direction. Definitely don't want to be hanging off the back.

I guess I'm in the right track. I don't know if my hull has foam, but I want it to because I worry a lot about sinking, so I'll probably do what you did with the foam too.

@hornedogg79 did you move the stock footholds forward, or did you get new footholds? I was looking at mine tonight and not seeing an obvious way to deal with the back of the stock footholds if I slide them forward. Do you have any more pictures of how you cut yours?

Thanks for the info!

I took what was left of the originals and epoxied them to the sides of the tray. Then poured 2 part foam around them a little at a time ensuring no voids. Sanded to shape I wanted, slathered thickened epoxy on everything, then finished with a few layers of fiberglass.
