I rode a Backie Chan briefly in a choppy channel and was very impressed! Very stable and predictable, nose down, hooks a rail and carvs turns hard, slides when you want it to, very light feeling with good pop. I could install a FFH and rip this hull in surf regularly no problem

I rode a 701 BC at World Finals and loved the way it carved through the water! it carves like a surfboard would and has a really stable feel to it when its on the water, like an SXR would. Though, im not sure if it was just because of the power plant, when it came to Aerials it was very hard to work with. It felt heavy when hitting the wake (again, it was a 701), but i could barely throw it to a 180 when i cranked the bars and threw my weight. In comparison to my Gen 3 with its old 701, i could do a full 360 helicopter. Im not talking bad about the BC, im 90% sure it was the motor because 30 minutes after i rode it i saw it was broken down on the beach getting worked on. All in all it was a fun ski and feels like with the right power plant it would rip!

Mine looks pretty sitting in my workshop ;) I bought a glass gel coat only. I would say the fit and finish is on par with my XFT. It looks so good just in the gel, I don't plan on painting it, maybe just adding some stickers.

The hull rides excellent IMO. I have a ~75lb (hood & hull) carbon Kevlar example and with a JM771 and a 144 Solas Mag, it has amazing pop. Others who have been on my ski and are unbiased feel claim it has similar pop to a ~100lb AM hull with a ~900cc motor. Grabbing a hand full of throttle will launch the ski clear out of the water. I had the same motor in a SJ hull and I wasn't blown away with the performance, but in my Chan it feels like a monster. I can only imagine how this hull would perform with a larger motor. I rode ADDict's Chan briefly with a 900 Scream and was a arm-yanker.

As mentioned, it carves great for being so short, but will slide. Also changing the length of the ride plate and intake grate allows you to change the ride to how it fits you best.

The lake I ride on is very very choppy at times, and when trying to chase boats I do obviously get knocked around a lot more than a SJ or other stock hull, because it is so short, wide and light, it rides on top of the surface at speed. But that is a physics thing IMO, and any short, wide, light hull should have that issue, to some degree anyway.

I've been impressed with how robust they are, after dozens of failed flip attempts all my ski has suffered is gel coat cracks. I have some damage on the nose but riding without a limiting rope caused some initial damage. But even with the gel cracking, the core appears to be holding up very well.

Great hull, good price, good quality. There can be some improvements with handling but over all i think its a killer hull especially for the price. Found it likes to bounce at high speeds like a 550. Think he got all the small kinks worked out now with the phantom. definitely capable of flipping with limited setup. Super wide tray and conferrable ski. For price definitely cant beat it.

What handling improvements does it need in your opinion?
The pump tunnel is huge so I know it's not a water migration issue, can you elaborate?
Shorter hulls are more susceptible to porpoising. Some worse than others but that's just physics

Did anyone use a atp waterbox? Did you cut the feet off of it to make it fit good? It seems like I need too but didn't want to do it without checking first.
