Bad deal with 24/7 760 Superjet

The story goes:
I purchased Ben's big bore motor out of his ski, the price was great, he was awesome, gave me a great price and helped hold the motor for me till I had the cash. Awesome, then I realized my 61X B pipe manifold would not fit without boring the bolt holes to fit the 62T cylinders. Quick thinking I realized Ben had a 62T mani and would need a X mani for his Lamey cylinders so I offered a trade...sounded like a good deal for both us. We agreed both manifolds where in great/working condition so we went ahead and shipped. I shipped mine UPS with insurance and tracking to make SURE it would not get lost, he shipped mine regular mail....no biggy I got it and everything looked good. Then I tried to install it, only to find that 2/3 of the headpipe to manifold holes had been drilled and tapped bigger and would not accept the FPP hardware and the other had been helicoiled NOT what we agreed upon (my manifold was in 100% condition) we had a conversation where I quickly displayed my displeasure and he got PISSED, we exchanged words and came to an agreement to exchange back, and I would pay shipping on both manifolds. Here's where (it seams) I got screwed, I shipped mine out (again UPS, tracking, insurance, etc.) and asked him to ship it the same way (at my cost) again he shipped it regular mail. I gave him his tracking number and watched it every day till he recieved it, when he got it (still had not seen mine) I sent him a PM asking when I could expect it "soon, I shipped 2 days after you shipped"

It is now 11 days after he "shipped" my manifold and I have nothing, on top of it I express my concern to him and he starts talking sh*t. Like I am the as*hole and am screwing him and "dont know anything about thread sizes and hardware". I am still waiting/hoping for it to come and will update every day till I see it. This wasn't a paypal transaction so I am not sure I can do anything about it but I figured I would put this out there so others can beware. I am currently on the hunt for a new manifold but not sure how I will be able to afford it anytime soon....I just hope it shows up and I can forget about it :frown:

Yeah, That sucks. I've had things that were shipped parcel post show up 3 weeks later. That was from Miami to Orlando. Really sucks you had to pay shipping on both though, when his was the one in question. Like Scott said....True colors uch:

Thats not 100% how it happened,when he got my manifold he sent me a pm swearing,saying i lyed..ect.I replyed back and said no need to curs me out...I was unaware that the threads had problems.I bought the ski used at the end of last summer,and took it all apart as u can see in my build..i quickly checked it over and sent it out.He said i new about it and i was trying to rip him off?After helping him with a motor,and trying to find him bolts from my old mans warehouse...he acts like this.He has my number as we talked on many occations.I would of liked him to just talk to me instead of acuseing me.I told him to just keep the bolts i sent for free,ill pay ship..i had no prob tradeing back,doesnt matter to me.Even if the were prob with the threads i could put new sirts in.I got my manifold back,and checked it.There was nothing wrong with it,it was tapped to american threads..he must of been useing his factory hardware.But no biggy.Yes i shipped it basic mail back,didnt think there was going to be a prob.Some time has passed and a day or so back he tells me it hasnt come in,i gave hime my addy to see if that could help..the post office on my side said they couldnt help me?Yesterday i get a pm from him once again cursing me out saying i prob didnt send it and he new this was going to happen?Yes i take offence to this...i put everyone in front of myself.My buddys wills build on here,nates x2 on here,Gcaseys build on here....Thats my side of the story.Oh one other thing after all that i still try to make it right saying if it doesnt come in within the week ill give him mine he just sent me,and ill go buy a brand new one.Ya theres my true colors...A guy willing to work with u even though u ******** on him.Thanks Yamanube for the neg feedback.

Idok how could u say anything about me?My true colors?I try my best to help everyone out.Wills build on here all free,Nates x2 build also on here..free help,Like yamanube said i tried my best with helping him with the motor,and we have talked on the phone on many occations..as friends.But when it came to this manifold swap...he pm'd me as i was a enamy,like i was trying to rip him?All he had to do was call me up and talk.Not curs me out.Sorry yamanube u feel this way.Like i said this morning if it doesnt come in within 3-4 ill give u mine.

Yeah, you DID hook me up on the motor and I thanked you for that and was super gratefull. Then when we did the deal with the manifold things where not as you said they where and that made me upset. I was more than happy to send it back but am now out a like new manifold. I appreciate you offering to give me your old one but obviously if you are opting to buy a new one anyways there MUST be something wrong with yours? I will try to be civil from here on out, I just hope we can get something worked out because at this point I have no way of running my new motor.

At least posting something here would go a long way towards making good on the deal.

I know Yamanube and I'm sure he's not trying to pull anything shady. If he did, he'd have a lot of guys show-up at his place to "rectify" the situation.

I'm really hoping to hear that this has been all cleared-up very soon.

Just got off the phone with Ben, he says he will be shipping me his manifold tomorrow.

Got Ben's manifold today, not the deal we agreed upon but it will get me on the water.

After 3 tanks of fuel a "brand new" rod bearing let loose and destroyed my topend. Also found out that the motor was not actually "dissassembled for inspection and freshened up" it lost a chunk of the piston and had to be bored out.
Also found out Ben had "rebuilt" the upper starter mount boss with a threaded insert and JBWeld, this also only lasted 3 tanks of fuel before crumbling to pieces.
After looking at the piston and cylinders I am also fairly sure they are out of spec and the bore is too large but have yet to get the time to measure them (updates will come soon)
I have come to the conclusion that Ben Batz is a liar and a thief and I STRONGLY discourage anybody from doing buisness with him.

Send me the cases and I am sure we can weld up recut/redrill/retap the starter boss, FOC, for all the crap you went thru for this.

I tore down the big bore, traded the cases off, a few of the crank bearings feel like crap so its now a core and the cyinders are sitting on the shelf. I am running a stock bore/port 61x/61x now and am pretty happy with it. Dont have the awesome power I did with the other motor but the price was right and it has already proven more reliable.

Yamanube, It Definitely Sucks Going Through Your Situation. But I Just Bought A Hood From Ben And He Gave Me Exact Description And Everything. Got It With In Three Days And It Looks Legit. Every Possible Thing Went Right With Him. Just Trying To Give Ben Some Credit For Being A Good Guy And All. We Talked A Couple Times And Hes Really Chill About Stuff And Very Understanding, Easy To Work With.

More news on this "awesome bigbore freeride" motor that the "highly skilled" Ben Batz sold me:
The "fully ported, fresh rebuilt, bigbore motor" he sold me was in fact NOT case ported (like he said), had NO intake tract porting, Moderate exhaust porting, STOCK SLEAVES on their last bore, oh yeah and the crank let go after 3 tanks and the starter mount was made out of JBWeld.
Ben is a terrible "custom jetski builder" and an even worse person (but a good salesman), he lied about nearly everything on that engine and sold me a piece of junk that was "dolled up" and described to be a very nice motor. I am pretty sure he has no idea what he is doing, I hope more people see this and DO NOT DO BUISNESS WITH BEN. What a joke, he got my money and my like new FPP manifold....all I have left is a crappy 62t mani and a set of cylinder castings and a core crank. As soon as the money was in his hands his attitude changed completely and he acted like EVERYTHING he did was to my benifit (like stealing my manifold, but sending me his so I would have one so I could ride was the best deal I could ever getand he was getting screwed out of riding even though his ski will never see the water)
