Bahamas on stand ups?

The shortest route is right around 50 miles and has been done by plenty of small boats and big sit down pwc. Has anyone ever made the trip on a standup?
It would be really cool to do and just one of those "just to say you did it" kind of things. I don't have the desire or time to be the guy to plan it but I would want to participate.
I would think about 5 skis per support boat would be a good number. Some sort of refueling technique would have to be figured out and ideally the support boat would be able to haul a broken ski On a swim platform or something in the event of a breakdown.
Anyone else ever think about this?

52 miles means you better be in dam good shape to last 3 hrs in the ocean and battling the gulf stream on a stand up.
I would rather couch it there instead

Several years ago I did a similar trip except it was out here in CA on the West Coast. I rode my Super jet from Oceanside Harbor to Catalina Island, which is right around 50 miles one way. Just like you I did it just to say that “I’m in that Club”. You have the right idea, you’ll need a support boat with GPS and extra gas. When I went the conditions where fairly calm so it really wasn’t all that bad. Actually once you get about 10 miles off shore, for the most part it was a pretty boring run. The most exciting thing was trying to refill the ski in the middle of the ocean without getting any saltwater in the fuel tank. My trip took me 3 tanks of gas and around 5 hrs, mainly because I couldn’t ride any faster than the support boat. I did sleep well that night though.

I’m thinking unpredictable weather would be your biggest obstacle, I understand that the Florida to Bahamas area has some crazy weather patterns that can do weird stuff in short notice. Never under estimate the ocean. Hope you put it together- Good Luck!

I did a 20+ mile run at Picture Rocks National Lake shore in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan two years ago. I ran up the shore line and back, encountered a waterfall and all the other majestic stuff up there!

This past august I circled Washington Island, think it was about 36 miles around. Then I did the smaller island too.

I love adventure trips! The big difference for you is open water. I was riding alone near shores. I left gas tanks at designated spots and pulled over to refill.

Good luck!

Yeah,re filling up in the middle of the ocean would be a challenge to say the least...especially on a stand up
The gulf stream is no joke! You and a support boat can get in big trouble fast

I understand this isn't for everybody but I thought a few would be interested. This is X-h2O after all and the X I assumed was for Xtreme.
Not everyone's idea of extreme is riding around on a 4 ft long carbon fiber bla bla bla doing backflips like a circus poodle.

I would consider flogging a high HP carbon hull much more extreme than droning for hours in the middle of the ocean. Yes, I've done both, tried a few offshore races, boring...

That camping trip to the Channel Islands sounds like fun. I've got a couch we could load up with beer!
