Barges/surf/wake ect

I made a mistake, kinda got free time from work so i decided to come back to my hometown area of corpus to take my new superjet on the ocean. Ive always had old unreliable machines so i never ventured into the saltwater.
Well im bored of flat lakes and i want to play around with barge wake, or ride in the surf...

Well iget to port A and all the friggin barges are parked in the gulf, i can see them but they arent moving. The beach is like a sheet of glass....

How do you properly plan a trip with tanker traffic or proper surf? Im free this next week and i want to chase some thrills with my new SJ!

I heard of a group that used to ride some port by Houston, I guess it's alot busier then port-a.
Just watch the surf report, we've hit some big waves at port-a before.

Houston ship channel. We have a dike in Texas City that runs 5 miles out into the bay. At the end of the dike you are almost in the shipping channel. A lot of traffic. Also the east end of Galveston is the main entrance to the houston ship channel. Good spot as well.

I've been watching the surf report lately for Surfside and it's been dead flat. Hoping it picks up by October.
