I just want to know how many people disconnect there battery when there not riding.

My ski sat since saturday and now my battery is dead. This hasnt happened before so i might have a short or something but i just wanted to know if everyone else disconnects their battery or leave it ready to ride all the time.

Thanks

the only thing i have diffrent in the ski electrical wise is the MSD enhancer. so i dont know what could of cause it but i will have to take a look.

Charge your battery and connect an ampmeter inline between your positive battery post and battery cable. If there is parasitic current draw you will be able to see it.

if you start out the day/weekend with a good battery and it is discharged after riding - you have likely a problem with your charging system somewhere.

check your voltage rectifier.

my ski had two bilge switches to fix a small current leak with the fancy handlebar one it got so bad the bilge would run at half power when the engine compartment switch was on so i removed it.

First determine that you have a good battery that keeps a charge when sitting.
If you don't have any problem with a bilge switch, change out the MSD since that was the last thing you did.
If you still have a drain on the battery, replace the voltage regulator, it may have a bad diode in it and will bleed battery current to ground slowly.

Did you screw your Tubbies in? If so check your harness, Scott ran a screw into his stator wiring. His wiring didn't go bad right away but a few rides in salt water ate it up pretty bad and he had to splice in a new section of wire along side the motor. The screw wasn't still embedded in the harness but once the insulation is damaged and salt gets in the corrosion starts. You will want to visually inspect the entire harness very thoroughly.

My seadoo gets disconnected after every ride cause the MPEM and Advent Ign. draw a little current but I never disconnect any of my other skis except my 92 SN and I only disconnect it now because it just started doing what yours is doing last season. It was fine for over 6 yrs but has just now started to drain the battery. I disconnected my bilge and it still drains the battery. I haven't looked deeper yet.
