I JB welded an aluminum tube on to the pump side of mine and it's been fine. Where are you guys bending them?

The cable was the first part to bend. I reinforced that with a tube just like you described. After that I started snapping plastic steering nozzles. Then I had the steering section of the nozzle completely blow off the back of the ski (breaking my steering cable)over a mile from my house. That was a tough ride back....LOL

I keep bending them inside the engine compartment, on either side of the adjusting nut. I took some fuel line that fit tightly over the outside of the rod, and then some tubing that fit snugly over the fuel line. The fuel like is on both sides of the adjusting nut, and the tube covers the entire length, right over the adjusting nut.
That has kept my actual trim rod form bending, but then I broke the nozzle.. I had it ground out to clear the turn nozzle in places, and it was just weak. So far the replacement, unmodified, is holding up great. Then again I really don't use the trim that much.. Haven't really needed it.

I have the wamiltons SJ trim setup on my lightweight. Its awesome...if you dont mind dropping $700 on a trim system...lol. Obviously this will not work with the kawasaki pump in a stock hull x2. I believe they make an SXR trim as well, but remember this will change the steering ratios/dynamics from the 650 nozzle and customs extentions, ect. May have to be made. Here is the titanium steering arm I had to make for my yamaha pump conversion.

Wamiltons trim setup, IMO the best there is.
