Freestyle Bending steering cables

Well I know I'm messing up somewhere. I am running the b-pipe coupler mod with xmetal trim and have rode it fine (lubed with vaseline) for 3 rides. But this last weekend I am guessing it (coupler) stretched in a corner, hung up on the steering nozzle and I bent my steering cable at the bars. Titan steering system on xmetal comp pole and xmetal trim, pro-tec AL steering nozzle. Getting the clearance is tricky, but worth it. I'm going to cut a freshie and change the angles and depth at the trim ring / steering nozzle and see if it will last longer.

Is there a stronger cable available??

Just wondering if others are having any issues?

I pulled the coupler off, because I just wanted to ride. But I'll say the coupler makes a HUGE difference in performance on everything you do. But bending the cable sucks wang. Human rudder back to shore is bad.

The 06 and 07 cables are thicker/stronger. Or there is the blowsion HD cable. Excuse my ignorance but what does your bpipe coupler have to do with the steering?

It was a new oem cable. I did find a corner of the coupler that blew out a little... Guessing that's what did it. That little cut / stretch / blowout hung up on the steering nozzle when I was bringing the bars back after a spin. It's a tricky set up, but works badass. I'll get a pic of my coupler in a bit.

I'll check into that Blowsion cable though. When the coupler is in there there is a lot of added friction / drag etc on the steering. When riding, you don't notice it at all. When it's on the stand, or anywhere else and you turn the bars from l to r you can feel the tension. But when you're on the gas and cranking the bars I'm sure there's a bit more. When riding I don't notice it a lot and just huck it lol..

Found out a little something that I'm going to do.

The hull itself reacts to steering ridiculously well and add to that the added steering I am getting from the coupler. So I'm going to shorten the steering throw and put a new coupler on it and see how that goes. Won't get to try it for a couple weeks, but I'll keep this thread updated as time goes on, as far as longevity and reliability.

I dont think any cable would survive if it acts as a steering limiter. I have destroyed a couple brand new cables just due to the little pivot bolt on the bars side coming little lose and moving just as much so the steering bottoms out on the cable instead of the limiters.

It is from steering against increased pump pressure. On my racing WB1 I had to reinforce the cable or I would blow a new cable at the 1st buoy. Get a HD cable or a aAu/SS tube over the oem cable to stop it bending under the pump pressure

Fitted a new coupler last night and pretty sure the issue was my fault with the last one. The new one fits better and works pretty damm smooth without vaseline. Reducing throw is a key to it I think. The throw you lose is more than made up for. It's a little time consuming to get the fit, but really pays off. This mod is like the difference between stock ex and putting a b-pipe on. No kidding, it just works. But when you mis on it (too tight, or blow out possibilities) things break lol.

Added some vaseline and it's golden so far. And limiting the steering throw helped a ton on reducing the chance of coupler blowout. Even after cutting the throw in half I can't really tell a difference in turning, or tricks, other than the reliability should be way better. With the coupler in and reduced throw, 360's are the same as before and overall thrust and steering are better.

So todays ride was a success for sure. I'll keep posting ride results as I get them. Stoked!
