Best engine setup for b pipe and 48’s

Due to clearance issues in my conversion ski I’m limited to running a factory b pipe. I already have Novi 48’s and 140mm Kawi Solas mag that I’d like to use with this build, just looking for some input on engine size (preferably powervalve) that won’t be too much for the pipe and too small for the carbs.

Bore out the manifold and head pipe area where they flange together to 51-52 mm and run any engine size you want. The Novi 48 will feed a 1100-1200 cc engine just fine. You should be more conscerned with getting air into the hull to feed the engine. A RRP type pole without additional breathers in the hood liner will limit your engine more than a modified b pipe and 48 Novis.

What’s your take on running 1100-1200cc with 140mm solas mag? Concerned it won’t process enough water.

If the wheel is ground nice and sharp so it doesn’t blow a vortex off the leading edge of the blade and you run a steep pitch on the wheel it’s going to hit hard and hook up just fine. I’ve ran a 140 skat 12 vane mag on several motors and they will surprise you. It’s all about the wheel, it has to be nice and sharp.

Just to clarify, my hands are tied with using anything bigger than the 140 mag pump without having to graft in a completely different pump tunnel.

I guess a better version of my original question should be what motor combo would work best with Novi 48’s but not be too much for the 140 mag? Sorry, I know this post probably sounds ridiculous to most of you. But hey that’s what newbies are for right? Lol

If you're dealing with a Kawasaki based pump situation are you not able to utilize a 145 Kawasaki based 12 vane pump? Good luck, have a great day.

You may have a unique situation that I have never encountered. The 145 is commonly a direct swap, having the same external dimensions, with a 140 in a Kawasaki drive line. Unfortunate you won't be able to utilize this option with the engine you purchased which is a little monster. Pump tuning should be interesting with this setup depending on your desired results.

I didn’t realize skat made a 145 with the same external dimensions as a 140, interesting. For $2,800 that’s a tough swallow considering I already have the 140mag. Any idea what pitch to start with? I have a 15/21 swirl in it now

It’s a unique project to say the least. It’s going in a Kawasaki 550 hull. Please note: I’m not doing this with any expectations at all, purely out of curiousity and a good laugh I suppose. I would however like to make the best of what I’m working with so it’s at least somewhat enjoyable to ride for the short time the hull can take the beating. After I have my fun I’m putting the motor in a freestyle hull and then will definitely run the proper size pump.
