I talked to Paul about it this week. he says Monkey grips are the best. he just got a shipment in this week. Mine will be here today!

Wammaltons is out of Wammer mounts until Havasu.

The reason I needed mounts was because I broke 2 monkey grips that were only a few months old. Paul insited they should not have broken and there may have been an instalation error. I don't know what they are supposed to put up with but I had about a dozen 3/4 rolls the day I busted them.

Thats it, all this broken motor mount talk........I am gona come up with something to take some of the stress off the motor mounts:sneaky: .....Will keep you guys posted, I will find someone who can post some pics of what I come up with.

are you guys just ripping the metal insert away from the rubber or actually tearing the rubber? just wondering if its the difference in bonding or material strength. when mine failed it was just the bond that failed but they were old.

kevin is out of motor mounts right now.

cracker, I've got most of my engine retaining strap system in place now...

romack, I've only ever ripped the metal plate off, never the rubber it's self

JR. told me that over tightening the engine mount bolt could weaken it because it puts a little twisting pressure on the top mount plate. sounds like a good theary to me.

Tim, could you get some pics of that....sounds about like what I had planned....I cant believe no one else has done this.

I'll try to get my old camera working.

I'm useing studs and eyelet nuts inplace of a few of the motor mount to hull bolts. I'm goint to run straps through the eyelests to prevent the mounts from over extending

too bad kenney keepers did not curve upward more, and go above the bed plates. Then a reverse set for the rear mounts, and do the same thing, curve up and over the bed plates. So at to act like hooks, not only keeping it from too much forward movement, but also back and up and down movement.

or does that sound stupid?

not to sound pess, but i think a force strong enough to rip one or more motor mounts off and send the motor in that direction (meaning you'd be upside down) would tear the bolts holding the keneey keepers down right off/strip the threads? ive had some pretty hard straigt upside down landing failed backies..

:banghead:

hmmm.... only one way to find out i guess... although, i see your point.. i think i would rather have a mount break (rubber part) than pull the bolts from the inserts.

my buddy was going to play around with a strap system... he used to race muscle cars and had some ideas about it... but that might be a better way to go.

^^^^Yea, I already have a couple I stripped out:banghead: I think the strap is the way to go. I think I will fiberglass some sort of hook directly to the bottom of the hull, that would solve that problem.:woot:.....no stress on hull inserts...I think it would hold everything together, and in place quite well.
