Best pump for my 701

Hi there, Presently I’m riding my rickter with a 701 motor 61x pipe stock pump with impeller 9/15 etc.. I’d like to change my pump for a mag pump 144. Is it worth it? Will I see a good difference or would it be better to go directly with a 148mag pump considering putting a 760 64x in the future? Thanks

What is the best setup

Why buy 2 pumps? Just go for the 148!
I might have asked that wrong.. I’m not looking to buy 2 pumps. I’d like to know which would be better if I take a mag pump 148 with my 701? Will it have a good performance or is it too much for my small engine? I read on the forum that the mag 144 was a bit disappointing.. I’m looking to get opinions from people that have had the same setup. Thanks

Ran my 701 with head and pipe with 148, it’s good, not to much with low pitch prop.. if you have a 144 shoe in your ski now, you can use a drum sander in a die grinder to open the shoe bore 2mm for the 148 pump.

If you want to do extra work, you can change to 155 shoe and 155 pump and low pitch prop and be even better.. just more $$$ and work

A setback 148 would be the best imo.
If that is too spendy, I have a complete mint non setback 148 solas pump for sale.

If you are going with new 148, go with the new 150 torrent. Bolts in just like the 144/148. But performance for the price its hard to beat the oem 155.

Its 148 mag? Or oem ? And the pump come with the wear ring?

OEM is 144 to 155

Its 100% complete 12 vane mag 148, stator, wear ring, prop, shaft, oem bearings/seals. 1800 new, asking 1k firm.

Ok so if I understand, the 148 and 150 fit with my 144 pumpshoe? And will it fit with my trim or must I change it?

144 shoe will work. Can buy a 148 shoe or bore 144 to 148 if you want.

The oem 144 reduction nozzle acturally fits the 148/150 better then the 144, no gap at the rear flange like the 144 has.

What size prop are you guys running on a 701 with b pipe ..... with a 148mm pump and what nosal sizes
I think a 7/14 is the stock equivalent +- and a stock 144 nozzle works with it. I like to match up the pump shoe and the pump tunnel as close possible with a smooth transition so as long as the pump shoe is aluminum you can match it up I would replace a plastic 144 shoe. As much flow to eliminate cavitation is the goal right? Make it as efficient as possible with no possible way for air to enter.

Bigger is better as far as peak thrust is concerned. The whole pump inlet needs to be as wide as the pumps diameter and the nozzle also needs to grow with everything else. A solas 144 stator will load a wet piped 701-760 very well. Going larger benefits larger engines more.
