best tool for sanding before reinforcement?

Does anybody have a picture of the best sanding pad/tool for me to use when I begin my reinforcement on my '08? Any help would be appreciated. Grit #, size, brand, etc...

An Ingersoll Rand 6" orbital palm sander works great for grinding down the ribs and sanding for reinforcement.

You can start with 40 ~ 80 grit for the ribs and work up to 180 grit for smoothing.

that things pretty big..i just use a 4in angle grinder

a tool like that will work great for the sides, but up in nose, nothing seemed to work well besides my bare hands with some nice gritty sand paper.

Thanks guys. If there are any more tools used, please list them. I'm sure others will have the same questions. I'll probably work with an angle grinder and a sanding disk (I have it in the garage already).

80 grit sanding cloth.
cloth is more expensive than paper but lasts WAAAY longer.

4" grinder... 36grit and the new 08's dont have ribs so no worries there :bigok:

Yeah, I'm pumped that there are no ribs to grind out!!!

<$20 4" grinder at harbor freight and some 32 and 60 grit flap sanding wheels.... just be careful not to get carried away or let the grinder slip.... it cuts through like butter if not careful which way the grinder is angled as you are working.... it worked great on mine and like said above just use some elbow grease for the nose and angled areas

carefull on the nose with grinder. I was prepping my 08 and cut right through to the outside. Whoops!!! It's thin up there.
