Hi guys,
Was curious what trailers the pros use for long hauls with expensive skis.. Does anyone run enclosed trailers, or open types only?

I was looking at this one below because I also have some dirt bikes and thought it would be cool to have a combo type hauler. But I'm a little afraid of thieves messin with my gear on a stay over type road trip with an open trailer.. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks I would like to see it.. Enclosed does sound great for security and more storage. I can see what your saying where dragging the skis in and out might be a real pain in the arse to the riding area..

Anyone here use an enclosed for steady use though?

Still Fat....
i bought mine off someone on ebay ans assembled it
i even clear coated it as i was putting it together, and the salt water still reaked havoic on it

i would love an aluminum, especially considering it's lighter which makes it easier for towing too

i have seen the red trailers here since we moved to yuma and i have to say they seem to pretty to put in the water

i would love to find sealed bearings, imagine such a simple thing, yet no where to be found

I love that you ask about "expensive skis".

Most everyone I know uses an old watercraft trailer or throws it in the back of a pick up.

As for the Pros, I juess it depends on the pro: Ross throws his in the back of his pickup. Mike Serlin will put his in the back of his Cherokee.Taylor C has a big galvinized trailer. Most the surf guys just use regualr trailers, no bling, It's going in salt water.

back of the pickup is your safest bet, as well as 2 less tires to worry about...

the best trailer is one that is not rigged..make sure everything is right and tight

if you want a NICE trailer..find a single aluminum ski trailer..

enclosed trailers are killer for long trips..doubles as a rain shelter as well!

enclosed trailers are good for gion to comps or any long trip.

I just built a new trailer,i used a utility trailer and got 2 by 4's and made bunks and welded a bar infront of the bunks for the bow stops then hooks on the rear for straps. It even has some storage room up front for gas, etc.Trailer seems to be working well so far.

Small light aluminum IMO. Those shadows look like PIGS!!!!!!!!

One of those and a couple of SXRs :pokey:and you would need a new Tunrda to pull it!

This trailer is the exact trailer Shadow made from my father in law. They snapped these pictures right before he connected it to his truck. Great trailer. I think it is galvanized with power coating on top??? He uses it for utility, dirt bikes and his GP1300r and FX HO. Again great trailer, but cost $5300 and he waited 6 months. Yikes.

I hate to admit it, but back of a mini-van works good too. Plus you have auto locking/storage ability. Just back it into the water and pull the ski out. My SJ lives in my van at all times and the blaster goes on a trailer behind.

Yeah there heavy duty no doubt, but built to last.. Do you notice any wheel hop at high speeds with your lightweight trailer?

Loadrite use to make these for sleds and I thought it was the best ever. I used it for my skis in the summer until going to a freeride in 07.Lost the whole back door never to be seen again.Still don't know what to do with the piece of sh.. Load rite said sorry about your luck.
Was great for the skis while it lasted. Heres a couple of pics after a truck driver was beeping because we were loosing stuff out the back
