300/440/550 best way to turf a 650sx

We use masking tape to make a template. Do the sides and front before the bottom. Hard part is peeling the template out of the tray in one piece. Then stick it to a sheet of turf and cut. Use heat and a rubber mallet and your set.

If you want to do the sides too it'll be cheaper to buy a sheet of it and cut it yourself. measure once, cut twice - or is it the other way around.

I just kinda cut a piece that was a little too big and layed it in and trimed it little at a time till it fit perfect then glued it down - really not all that hard as long as your not doing footholds or anything tricky like that.

Its one piece on each side, one piece for the front, and one for the bottom, no seams. It did tear in the corner of one of the toes in the holds. The revs are just too deep to stretch the turf that far so there's a scrap glued in where it tore about the size of a quarter. I used 2 sheets of b stock and did the tray, bondline, and chin pad. All the b stock I've ever ordered or seen has little to no noticeable blemishes. Maybe a tiny pit on the bottom or miscut diamond. Heat is your friend, and buy a box of razor blades because the stuff dulls them after 2 or 3 cuts.

Contact adhesive...dap wellwood. I've used both the regular and the gel and the regular is easier to use. Coat the fiberglass with two coats and the turf with at least 3. Let each coat dry before applying the next and once its dry apply the turf to the hull. Just take your time, once it's stuck that's it and you can't remove it or adjust the turf. I make templates and cut at least 2" larger than the template and then trim the excess once its set.
