i have a 61x motor id like to make...well...HUGE this winter.

dont have the money for a stroker... gotta make due with what i have.

who is supplying the big broke sleeves these days; what is the largest piston people are getting away with and how many CC will it yield?

if you can afford a bigbore you can afford a stroker.

Here's a list of the displacement for a given bore and stroke combo. Look under the 68mm (stock stroke) and you will see the displacement based on the various bores. I think you typically can go 85 or 86 mm.

However, you state that you don't have the money for a stroker, but consider that the cost of a 4 or 5mm crank is not that much more than a set of installed sleeves (parts and labor).

call me ignorant, but cant i just resleeve, replace the existing pistons with the big boys, then modify the case so the sleeves will fit?

i have pretty close to 6 months before i ride again so i have lots of time to research...

EDIT: after reading that chart what you said makes more sense now!

so realistically i could just replace my crank with a stroker, do some porting and would gain some CC's pretty quick... maybe even bore this cylinder out to 84 with new pistons and be safe... hmm.

one more question... can my existing crank be turned into a stroker crank?

obviously a shop would have to do this, but what it actually involved/modified?

A stroker is made by moving the lower rod bearing pin further from the centerline of the crankshaft. It can be done by either making new webs that have the hole further out or the hole in the existing web can be welded to fill in the inside and then the hole is drilled further out from the centerline. Having no experience personally with stroker motors I don't know if it makes a difference either way but you get the same results.

Usually if you have a stock crank as in nonrebuildable webs,they just cut off the pins and remachine the webs for whatever stroke increase that you want.That way you aren't buying new webs and all you have is rods,bearings and machining cost to deal with.Agood crank shop can usually do a stroker for a reasonable amount of coin.

is it possible to run a 4 mil stroker with kawi flat tops and not have to deck the 61x cylinder? and if so would that be a good setup for lowend grunt?

Depends on who you buy it from.....:rolleyes: I paid around $1100-1200 for my billet 6mm crank from Crankworks new this January. The complete 4mm stroker kit Art builds is about $2000 give or take. You supply the cylinder and cases. This includes an ADA head and domes cut to match. Amazing power on a budget! Much stronger than the average big bore. Leaves you plenty of cash for things like a mag pump, carbs,reeds, TL, etc...:biggthumpup:

I'm running the ADA billet(old style) cylinder with 48 BJ's. Ryan (freeride05) has the 4mm and he's running 46mm BJ's. His boat feels exactly like mine. Same character and feel with just a tad less everywhere. Very close, though.

I have zero experience with them personally and don't know what kind of 'preporting' is done to them.
I do know they are what Team Scream uses in their B.B. motors so they must not be crap.

Jr.'s 760 is a good option too, less $$$ than a stroker setup for more displacement unless you go 5mm/bigger.

I'd really like to ride one of these 4mm strokers by Art to compare to my FU760.
